I work as accelerator operator at CERN, the world's largest particle accelerator laboratory. CERN is located just outside of Geneva/Switzerland and stretches over the franco-swiss border. In 2007 the LHC will start operation. It will be the largest and most powerful particle smasher ever built and constitutes the world's biggest and most complex scientific instrument to study the origin of the universe.
